The Daily Mail claims Madonna has approached a major Hollywood studio about remaking " Casablanca " with her as the star! Its get better. According to these sources, Madonna wants to set the remake in Iraq. YES! Dear studio heads, make this happen! A source said, " Madonna is talking about taking the Ingrid Bergman role for herself, even though Bergman was in her 20s when she played Ilsa and Madonna is nearly 50. She wants to update the story and maybe set it in a modern war zone such as Iraq. There is no script yet. " The source went on to say that Madonna's people are merely testing the waters and so far nobody is really interested. I'm interested! We haven't had an amazing flop in a ...
Madonna to remake Casablanca?
Published 3/30/2008 at Filmstalker
... the classic Casablanca starring Humphrey Bogart, Ingrid Bergman and Claude Rains being remade, but in Hollywood just now anything is possible, after all they're remaking anything they can. Now this could be the lowest Hollywood has stooped, Madonna remaking Casablanca? Whatever next? Yet could she actually be onto a good idea? First of all this is as word of mouth as a rumour can get, so bear that in mind as you read it, unnamed sources taking about people who aren't quoted. However, The Daily Mail claims that a source at a “major Hollywood studio” was approached by ...
Don’t “play it again” Madonna

File this one under probably a bad idea. Madonna reportedly wants to revive her luke warm acting career with a daring remake of the classic film Casablanca. The rock hall of fame pop singer is said to believe the film will make her reputation as an actress, after a string of high-profile flops such as Shanghai Surprise, Body Of Evidence and Swept Away, her much-derided 2002 collaboration with husband Guy Ritchie.
A source at a major Hollywood studio that was recently approached by the 49-year-old star said:
“Madonna and her people are testing the waters to see if this is the right vehicle for her and if a major studio will get behind the project.”

Bad Idea of the Week: Madonna Remaking Casablanca (?!)
Published 3/31/2008 by BuzzSugar at BuzzSugar -- Entertainment hourly.
It's only Monday morning and already we have a Bad Idea of the Week ! And yes, this is entirely rumorific right now, but the mere thought of it is so appalling to me, I had to vent. Madonna. Remaking. Casablanca. Of course, the remake — possibly set in a modern war zone like Iraq — would be a starring vehicle for the Queen of Pop herself. Apparently, a "source" told the Daily Mail , "Madonna is talking about taking the Ingrid Bergman role for herself, even though Bergman was in her 20s when she played Ilsa and Madonna is nearly 50." Um. Yeah. To see what else there is to say about this, read more. Age is the least of the issues I'd have with Madonna taking the role of Ilsa in a ...

... . They really, really blow. Baby, you can't act. I don't know what Evita was, and you played yourself in Desperately Seeking Susan. That was it. Your new idea, to star in a remake of Casablanca set in Iraq (!?!), is the worst film idea I've heard since Gus Van Sant remade Psycho. ...

Filed under: Classics, RumorMonger, DIY/Filmmaking, Remakes and SequelsA rumor is just a rumor, until it becomes fact. Whenever I see one of these sorts of stories, my inner core of movie fandom shudders. What if THIS is the one that's not a rumor? Their studio source says: "She is still determined to make it in the movies. She and her representatives have been touting around a project which is a remake of Casablanca. The reception has been lukewarm to say the least. ...
