Judge, Bateman Put Together "Extract"
Published 4/28/2008 at FilmWad
Mike Judge ("Office Space," "Idiocracy") has recruited Jason Bateman ("The Kingdom," "Juno") to star in "Extract" a new comedy that the former will be writing and directing. According to Variety, the film will explore "what it's like to be the boss when everything seems to be shifting around you." Bateman should have a good idea of how to play that role after having played CEO Michael Bluth on the greatly-missed "Arrested Development" for three years. John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky will produce the film with Judge under their Ternion Productions banner. Probably a substandard essay will be written in a ...

Baby Boom: Trade Roughage 04/28/08

Baby Mama had a big weekend. The Tina Fey comedy made $18 million dollars, beating Harold and Kumar’s take by about $4 million and easily enough for the top box office slot. Still, the stoner comedy more than made back its production budget in its first weekend, and that’s cause enough for Warner execs to take credit for handling their first post-merger New Line release successfully.
The Hollywood Reporter says IFC is in “final negotiations” to distribute The Pleasure of Being Robbed, the Josh Safdie feature which has been the subject of much chatter ...
Mike Judge Returns to the Office
Published 4/28/2008 at Vulture
... Judge gives Jason Bateman a long-awaited lead role in his new comedy, Extract. Let's hope Miramax will treat this movie better than Fox did Idiocracy and, you know, actually release it. Extract represents a return to workaday life for Judge, as the film's set in an office, but with Bateman playing the boss rather than a downtrodden employee — which explains the movie's original title, I Am Curious Lumbergh. Jason Bateman Goes to Work with Office Space Writer
Published 4/28/2008 by BuzzSugar at BuzzSugar -- Entertainment hourly.
[image] Jason Bateman is so good at playing the everyman, he could even make the Bluth family 's over-the-top problems seem relatable. And with Office Space , Mike Judge proved that he could tap into the psyche of downtrodden workers everywhere. So it seems the two could be a match made in heaven for a new feature called Extract . The film, which Judge will write and direct, focuses on the owner of a flower extract factory (huh?) who can't seem to get a break — either at the office, where he has a string of bad luck, or at home, where his wife has had an affair with a gigolo. Variety describes it as a movie "about what it's like to ...

Ternion is fully financed to develop film, TV, digital and new-media projects through a finance and development deal with Media Rights Capital. The shingle will also produce films and TV projects through the traditional studio and network route. Penned by Judge, ...
Mike Judge Headed Back to the Office
Published 4/28/2008 by Cole Abaius at Film School Rejects
Few comedians have gotten the shaft like Mike Judge has. Despite producing a ground-breaking cartoon series in “Beavis and Butthead”, creating another that every single human finds funny with “King of the Hill” and becoming the come-from-behind king with Office Space, Judge still got no respect when creating and promoting his last venture, Idoiocracy.
So it’s no surprise that he’s ventured out and created his own production shingle with brothers in arms, John Altschuler and Dave Krinsky. And it looks like one of their first projects out of the gate is going to be ...
