... the director was asked about the rumors that Charlize Theron would be starring in the film. He responded by saying, “It could be Mel, it could be anyone, in fact I’m looking around at these faces to see if anyone’s quite interesting here.”
The other bit of news that came out today is the film might have a budget of $100 million dollars and it’ll be filming for over six months! More after the jump:

... On the casting front, yet another rumor has hit. ABC News out of Australia claims that Sam Worthington is rumored to be playing the lead, not Tom Hardy. I actually like that choice more, just because Worthington is a badass and an Aussie himself. Plus, there's always the chance that both of them could end up being in Fury Road anyway, with Hardy playing a villain or sidekick. I'm excited to see this project get underway and I hope we get confirmed casting news soon, as I'm anxiously awaiting to see who George Miller has lined up in place of Mel ...

... sure he will find some people that are interested. Personally I wouldn’t expect to see Gibson return to the role. I’d be shocked if he did. It’s been said that Mad Max: Fury Road in the hands of George Miller will be one of the largest most ambitious live-action films ever made in Australia.
How awesome is that!? I really hope this movie ends up being amazing, it would be fun to see a new Mad Max film done right. What do you all think?

The Hollywood Reporter is now reporting that the movie will film Down Under next year in Sydney and outback New South Wales. Warner Brothers yanked “Green Lantern” off the continent, so maybe this movie and its $100 million budget will help to fill the void.
It’s unlikely that Mel Gibson will be returning, at least not as Max, but ABC is putting Sam Worthington out there as a replacement.
