Heath Ledger-Directed Modest Mouse Video Premieres Tomorrow
Pitchfork: Latest News —
Back in March, we reported on a whispered-about music video for the Modest Mouse song "King Rat", directed by Heath Ledger. Now we know: the video does indeed exist and it'll premiere on MySpace tomorrow.
According to a press release, the animated clip is a visual plea against "the illegal commercial whale hunts taking place off the coast of Australia." While the clip was "fully conceived" by Ledger, it was unfinished when he passed away in January 2008. After Ledger's death, the film and music company the Masses, which counted Ledger as a member, finished the video with support from Modest Mouse frontman Isaac Brock.

Watch Heath Ledger's Gory Cartoon Modest Mouse Video Now
Pitchfork: Latest News —
Back in March, we told you about the mysterious video for Modest Mouse's "King Rat" that the late actor Heath Ledger had begun directing before his January 2008 death. And yesterday, we told you that the clip was set to debut on MySpace Music today. Well, MySpace has the video now, and yeah, this looks like exactly the kind of thing that someone might come up with after spending a couple of months rocking Joker makeup and pretending to mutilate people.A press release claims that the video, credited to the film and music company the Masses (of which Ledger was a member) protests ...
Watch: The Heath Ledger "Envisioned" Video For Modest Mouse's 'King Rat'
:: The Playlist :: —
We told you all about this earlier this year. Not sure what it is about Modest Mouse these days, but they really get on our nerves now. Maybe it's the stupid sea shanty vibe they keep aiming for. Still if you want to see one of the last creative things Heath Ledger ever made you'll want to watch this video for their new single, "King Rat," that he directed, err conceived. He was conceptualizing the heavily-animated clip before his January 2008 death, but apparently he passed on before work on it was completed so it was finished by friends. Here's the press release info (via ...
Heath Ledger's Animated Modest Mouse Video Finally Released
:: The Playlist :: —
It seems MySpace have the debut today of the Modest Mouse video for "King Rat" which we reported Heath Ledger directing and Terry Gilliam animating before the former's untimely death. A press release on their site credits the video to production company The Masses, elaborates on Ledger's anti-whale hunting vision for the video's message (interesting in comparison to Modest Mouse's sea-faring video history) and encourages donations to the Sea Shepard Conservation Society. It also underlines that every aspect of the video was fully imagined before Ledger passed, quashing any sort of "cashing in" ...
Heath Ledger’s Terry Gilliam-Inspired Modest Mouse Video Released
/Film —
Earlier this year, The Playlist uncovered the news that Heath Ledger had been working on two music videos at the time of his death, one for Modest Mouse and one for Grace Woodroofe. Now Ledger’s animated Modest Mouse video, for the new song ‘King Rat’, is streaming at MySpace. When the news first came out, Terry Gilliam was reported to be the animator, which turned out to be false. But you can see some very evident Gilliam influence in the clip regardless — those trumpets emerging from clouds are just one little touch of Gilliam’s very recognizable style. See the (relatively horrifying) video after the jump. ...
