I have a certain guilty love of the schlocky good time that is "Torchwood," but beyond the campy naughtiness of it all, Davies is quietly breaking barriers, making it ordinary for a character to be something other than heterosexual and neither tragic nor apologetic for it. Davies will be leaving "Doctor Who" after the next season, and his particularly quirky hand will be missed.
