Freddy’s been a very strange horror villain - not only managing to keep surviving long enough to return for seven sequels (VS Jason counts), but also morphing from terrifying dream-controlling child killer to hilarious comedy anti-hero. It’s good to know that the producers thought that was a bit shit too. The remake is being penned by Wesley Strick, writer of Cape Fear.
