Patriot Games/Varsity Blues scribe Peter Iliff will write a screenplay based on an idea by former Legendary Pictures chief marketing officer Scott Mednickis (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) who is producing the feature. Iliff is probably best known for writing Point Break, and recently wrote the upcoming sequel Point Break Indo.

Scribe Peter Iliff ("Patriot Games," "Under Suspicion") will pen a live-action big screen film version of game show "American Gladiators" reports Variety.
This film version of the highly popular series, which first aired in 1988 and has been adapted into local editions in at least a dozen other countries, features the Herculean characters as superheroes.
Scott Mednick will produce, show creator Johnny Ferraro will executive produce and a 2011 release is planned.

I still can’t believe a movie is getting made based on the TV show, American Gladiators. I seriously don’t get it, but it is going to happen and a writer has been hired to prove it. Peter Lliff will take on the challenge of writing a script based on the NBC game show that first aired in 1988 and was recently revived. Liff has written films such as Patriot Games and Varsity Blues.
As for the story… all of those gladiators such as Blaze, Gold, Laser, Titan, Nitro, Lace and more will all be superheros in the movie and I am sure the will be saving ...
