... would have had to have been phenomenal on top of hugely successful to shake any of the negativity surrounding it right now. I don't lay all of that on McG's feet. From what I understand he always intended to include Edgar Wright, Simon Pegg and Jessica Stevenson in the process, but was advised against it in the early days of the option. If that's true, then it's a shame, but still... McG should have known better. That one little thing could have made the difference here. ... Despite all the buzz, and exec producer McG, and a "phenomenal cast", Spaced is a no-go, I'm told. FOX just turned thumbs down on the WBTV/Wonderland pilot, which was adapted from the successful British TV series. THANK FUCKING GOD source

Fanboys and fangirls can resume their normal daily activities once again, because according to Nikki Finke on Deadline Hollywood Daily , the U.S. remake of Spaced has not been picked up by FOX for production. The pilot episode was reportedly given a thumbs down, despite the involvement of hot shot director McG.
