I think Walter Chaw's review of this film started out something like: "being directed by Joe Roth the most surprising thing about this film is that it's not worse". He's not wrong, the directing is bad, the writing is overwrought, the editing is insane, and Julianne Moore is dialing in the same performance she has in the last four films she's made (grieving mother on the brink on insanity). ...
