... One of the greatest TV mini-series of all time was I, Claudius. It was riveting TV and every time it's been repeated since it premiered in 1976, I've watched it religiously. The Robert Graves novel about the Roman empire, including the mad Caligula, is now set for a remake. Director Jim Sheridan (My Left Foot) will be helming an adaptation of I, Claudius with Nye Heron and Sheridan penning the script. ...

Irish director Jim Sheridan is to bring Robert Graves' novel 'I, Claudius' to the big screen. THR says that Sheridan will write the screenplay for the film about the Roman emperor with collaborator Nye Heron. 'I, Claudius' was adapted into a 1937 Josef von Sternberg film and also became a BBC miniseries in the 1970s. Sheridan's new film, 'Brothers', which stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Tobey Maguire and Natalie Portman, will be released later this year.
