No decent movie in history has ever been released before April), but at least it would've given Kelly fans the chance to forget about Southland Tales (and the director's cut of Donnie Darko) seven months sooner. Presumably Warner just wanted to avoid seeing the film get crushed at the box office by Valkyrie (which, until the next announced delay, is still being released in February).

... Donnie Darko quite a bit, although with repeat viewings I found that it lost some of its lustre. Southland Tales was, without question, an awkward, incomprehensible mess, but it did have some elements that I kind of dug. His next movie, The Box , is thankfully a bit less ambitious, and sounds like something I would definitely be into, but after this week’s announcement that Warner Brothers have delayed it to September 2009, I can’t help but wonder what it might mean.
