Estelle Getty passed away today, 3 days short of her 85th birthday. She will alway be remember as the lovable and feisty Sophia Petrilo. She will live on Golden Girls repeats, so please go home and watch her tonight on Lifetime I know I will be! Thank you Estelle Getty for all the laughs, you were a true genius.

Allie Is Wired! — It is a sad, sad day and there should be a day or mourning. Estelle Getty has died at the age of 84 at 5:35 this morning. Estelle is best known for her role as Sofia on the best show ever, “Golden Girls.” She had long suffered from Lewy Body Dementia. Her family and caregivers were by her side as she passed. I am truly, truly sad for the loss of a great woman who shared with us both laughter and tears. I know we will all miss her smile dearly. [TMZ]
