Erin +1I used to love the Muppets movies when I was a kid. Then they got unfunny and boring. But a Knocked Up Miss Piggy or 40-year-old Virgin Kermit could be interesting again.

The duo will write the screenplay together and Stoller will direct. According to Variety, this idea came about during the filming of Sarah Marshall. In that film (out April 18th), Segel's character "writes a "Dracula" musical performed by puppets. Those cloth creatures were custom-made by the Henson puppeteers, and the experience emboldened Segel to ...
Forgetting a New Muppets Movie

... Kristin Burr.
The early Muppet films were absolutely genius, but the last few failed due to an attempt to dumb down the plot/jokes to appeal to young viewers. I’m sure Segel and Stoller understand what direction to take the franchise, it’s just a question of if Henson/Disney will allow them the chance to actually make it happen.
Discuss: Could Segel and Stoller create another great Muppet movie, or is the Muppet franchise dead?

Apparently, Segel's character in the upcoming Apatow-produced Forgetting Sarah Marshall writes an all-puppet musical, which (seriously) was enough for Disney to dust off Kermit the Frog, who is "very excited to be working again." Added an excited Swedish Chef, "Bork bork bork!" [Variety] ...

... I've enjoyed Jason Segel on Freaks and Geeks and How I Met Your Mother, but it wasn't until this morning, when I read in Variety that he's co-writing a new Muppet movie, that I "liked him." That's just cool. The kind of cool that's even cooler because it's kinda not cool. If you know what I mean. ...

'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' Guys Now Penning 'Forgetting Nurse Janice' For Henson Co. [Trade Roundup]

... Musical sequence in Forgetting Sarah Marshall so impressed the Jim Henson Co., who produced the puppets, that they've hired Jason Segel and Nick Stoller to write and direct the next Muppet movie. They're hoping the whole Apatowian raunch-with-heart formula will lend itself nicely to a story about Miss Piggy's accidental knocking-up by Kermit's unambitious stoner character, which will result in a mutant frig baby that both will love despite its freakishly beflippered snout. Jason Segel, co-star of the sitcom How I Met Your Mother and the upcoming movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall (directed by Nick Stoller), has been signed by Disney to pen the next Muppet movie, with Stoller directing. Though the announcement likely figured into my subsequent quick recovery, I wasn’t in good enough health to write about it at the time. Fortunately, now there’s more details, courtesy of MTV Movies Blog , and I’m even more giddy than before. As I figured, Segel is looking to the original Muppet flicks, specifically The Muppet Movie , The Great Muppet ...

The Knocked Up funny man says,
“I’ve had a fascination with puppets my entire life. I remember thinking that Kermit The Frog was Tom Hanks. He was the ...
