The 16-year-old gymnast was scheduled to head back to her hometown of Des Moines, Iowa, but decided to make a stop to see David Letterman !
The energetic Olympian won one gold and three silver medals at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing.

USA gymnast Shawn Johnson came up big on the balance beam and won gold at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing on Tuesday. Her score of 16.225 bested teammate Nastia Liukin who scored 16.025.
