Published 1/5/2008 at OH NO!!
... be made on Sunday in order to get maximum media coverage on Monday, I understand. My sources had no information about which UA movies stalled because of the strike might get re-started. Cruise's movies-only studio is part of MGM, which knew about the negotiations underway, I've learned. I'm told the deal was hammered out under the utmost secrecy by UA's Paula Wagner, who has long been Cruise's producing partner, and WGA leaders Dave Young and Patric Verrone. SOURCE

The AMPTP begins to crack up
Published 1/5/2008 by Logan Gawain at GALACTICA SITREP
Deadline Hollywood Daily reports that United Artists, now run by producing partners Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner, has signed a deal with the WGA -- essentially the same deal David Letterman's Worldwide Pants agreed to. For this deal to happen, UA's parent company, MGM, had to allow it to happen. And so the AMPTP is fuming at MGM. ...

... As you may've heard by now, Cruise and his partner Paula Wagner at United Artists have apparently made Hollywood history (and at least a few enemies) by making a deal with the WGA (the official media blitz is due Monday the 7th). Thus their studio would be the first to break ranks with the producers' alliance since the strike started, and (my, all this "hope" and "change" rhetoric is kinda infectious) this could very well signal a major shift in the whole debacle. ...
