ShogunMaster Says CRYSTAL SKULL Is 'the Indiana movie that you were dreading'!! Links11
Merrick here... Well, I've suspected this for a while now. Lucas' public statements about downplaying expectations for the film didn't exactly smack of confidence or enthusiasm. Numerous reports of tepid-to-zero reaction from audiences who saw CRYSTAL SKULL's latest trailer in front of IRON MAN suggested the movie wasn't energizing folks the way it should (my 14 year old son...who loved the ... Indiana Jones and the Fortress of Suckitude

... has seen a sneak preview of the movie, and the news ain’t good. This guy obviously learned his grammar, syntax, and keyboard skills from Courtney Love, but the message is clear: Indiana Jones and the Crystal Skull pulses with all the energy and excitement of a Fred Thompson presidential bid. Worse yet, he claims that the special effects are cheesy and inept, and for the last ten years special effects have been the only thing George Lucas was any good at. Well, rats. Guess I’ll be re-seeing Iron Man and trying to ignore the Indy trailer at the beginning.

... aren’t for another ten days, but as long as Aint It Cool News exists, you can count on early reactions from the amateur critics. One such person, going by the alias “ShogunMaster,” has a spoiler-filled review that is unfortunately quite negative. Claiming it lacks tension, employs extremely fake-looking props and sets, and features a “horrible” performance from Shia “LaBeef”, the reviewer at least puts some of it into perspective: ...

Is Indiana Jones 4 Bad, Geriatric Fluff?

... Fair cover. The Entertainment Weekly cover. Can nothing save Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones from being universally panned? “I’m told by other AICN staff members (don’t know if he wants his name formally associated with this info) that other people have contacted him from the same screening & that their feedback has been “uniformly rough”. It’s safe to assume more reviews will arrive in the coming days.” [AICN] Just please don’t hate it as much as Sex and the City! ...

... I'd like to highlight the reviews without revealing any major plot points, because it was interesting to read the various story-centered complaints from the fanboys, of all people, about high-brow things like lack of tension, under-developed or under-used characters, and too much dialogue, if you can believe that. First, ShogunMaster said it was the “Indiana Jones movie you were dreading:” ...

Even with my movie reviews (which I really consider personal opinions) I urge folks to judge for themselves no matter what my take on a movie is. In the end, I don't really believe that Indiana Jones will flop (tho, I thought the same about Speed Racer ) but in the Internet Age, I guess you can never be all that sure this far ahead of a movie's release. ... old man in action again, I was kind of worried that they seemed to be missing ’something’. That something was tension. During the whole of the movie, there was not a single moment that I thought our hero Mr. Jones (actually Colonel Jones as he was a hero in WWII now) was in any sort of peril or even significant inconvenience. In most cases, you were so many steps ahead of the characters that it was really just an arduous wait for them to get through it.” from Aint It Cool News. ”After about an hour, the film abandons any pretense of story ...
