Should Obama be played by an African-American on 'Saturday Night Live'?
Call me crazy, but shouldn't "Saturday Night Live's" fictional Sen. Barack Obama be played by an African-American? On Saturday night, cast member (and former Chicagoan) Fred Armisen played Obama in "Saturday Night Live's" opening sketch, which was a purported CNN debate between Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton (who was played by Amy Poehler). The producers of ...

The character should be played by the actor that resembles the person they're playing - regardless of his/her color. The only other black person on SNL, Kenan Thompson, doesn't look anything like Obama. My goodness, all the hubbub over something so silly.

Only Black Guys Can Be Obama On SNL [Race-baiting]
Gawker — ... but it was not funny, thanks to Armisen's Japanese and Venezuelan ancestors, and now critics of all races are uniting to make Armisen aware of how his genes make his dreams impossible. Apparent white lady Maureen Ryan led the charge from the Chicago Tribune, writing, " there's only one thing that would justify giving the role to a non-black performer -- if the person who took on the role was simply terrific as Obama." Then black woman Hannah Pool wrote in Britain's Guardian that "the Chicago Tribune should not hire a white TV critic to do a black ...

SNL's Michaels defends choice of Armisen as Obama - VIDEO

Really?" wrote Ryan on her Tribune blog. ...

"SNL" Creating Sambo-Obama?
Celebrity Gossip | Entertainment News | Celebrity News | TMZ.com — ... Either "SNL" came back from the writer's strike completely color blind or extremely one-sided. A columnist at the ChicagoTribune.com has called out SNL on their choice to have Fred Armisen, who is Hispanic and Asian, portray Obama -- saying the show may be marginalizing African-American performers. Will Saturday Night Live rescue Hillary Clinton's presidential campaign? Of course not, although you could be forgiven for thinking otherwise in light of the amount of ink (and pixels) inspired by two recent skits: a debate parody lampooning the media's fondness for Barack Obama and a frank endorsement by Tina Fey . Clinton herself referenced the former in Tuesday's debate , causing Time ...
