Spider-man Hits Broadway In 2009

It looks like Spider-man will be swinging into Broadway very shortly! We get wind of this news from our friends at IESB:
The Spider-man Musical backed by Broadway veteran Julie Taymor has long been talked about over at Marvel Studios.
The production, based on the popular comic book and movie character, has been in the works for the past three and a half years, Maisel said Monday at the Thomas Weisel Consumer Conference in New York. And commented that they hope to have the show up and running as soon as 2009.
Taymor has been signed on to the project for more than a year now and The Edge and Bono from U2 have completed ...

This is just weird, but… it wouldn’t be the first modern movie to make it to Broadway. Apparently, Marvel chairman David Maisel has been pursuing this project for a while and famed Broadway director Julie Taymor has also been attached for over a year. The Edge and Bono, from U2, have even completed the score for the production. Maisel says he hopes to have the musical out their as early as 2009, but he needs to find a theater first. You heard it right. Yet another article about a musical, from the guy who hates musicals. There is a silver lining to this one though. I have said before that I really don’t like musicals, unless something within the subject matter is an extreme interest to me. For instance, I really liked Across The Universe because I am a huge fan of The Beatles. So when the characters would start to belt out some songs I’d normally stop paying attention, but it was a different story when they were singing my favorite Beatles tunes.
