Spider-man Hits Broadway In 2009
The Movie Blog — It looks like Spider-man will be swinging into Broadway very shortly! We get wind of this news from our friends at IESB: The Spider-man Musical backed by Broadway veteran Julie Taymor has long been talked about over at Marvel Studios. The production, based on the popular comic book and movie character, has been in the works for the past three and a half years, Maisel said Monday at the Thomas Weisel Consumer Conference in New York. We Are Movie Geeks — This is just weird, but… it wouldn’t be the first modern movie to make it to Broadway. Apparently, Marvel chairman David Maisel has been pursuing this project for a while and famed Broadway director Julie Taymor has also been attached for over a year. The Edge and Bono, from U2, have even completed the score for the production. Maisel says he hopes to have the musical out their as early as 2009, but he needs to find a theater first.
