Two Sides of the Fence New York 's Vulture guys, assessing the so-far universal praise for Pixar's WALL*E , are trying to kick-start a campaign to give it a "real" Best Picture Oscar next February instead of -- in their minds -- an allegedly downgraded substitute tribute in the form of a Best Animated Feature Oscar. This is wrong, fellas. The animated realm means an emphasis on digital as opposed to organic raw-grain realism, and the Best Picture realm still means more or less the opposite. We're obviously living in a world of increasing overlap between them -- reality ...
Should Wall-E Be Nominated for Best Picture?

... Now there's a a campaign afoot to get Wall-E out of the Best Animated Film category and into competition with the big guns. Vulture argues that Wall-E should be the second animated film (so far we've only seen Disney's Beauty and the Beast) to be included in this category because it's exactly the kind of movie that the Academy wants to consider for Best Picture: it's both well-reviewed and beloved by audiences. ...


I love to see WALL-E get nominated for Best Picture. Actually I think it deserves a win.
Also, there was wonderful sound editing and mixing by Ben Burtt, he might even deserve a Special Achievement.
And there was a beautful score by Newman. Derserves nomintaion.
Most importantly, Stanton derserves a win for Best Original Screenplay. Beautiful storytelling, beautiful originality.
But what makes those voters discriminate animated movie?
WALL-E FOR BEST PICTURE.
