Well, today isn't Idol-news-free, at least. Taylor has announced a deal to release his next, untitled album through the artist-services company Artist to Market. The album, on his Modern Whomp label, will be out Feb. 10. Artist to Market has worked with independent, former major-label artists such as Dolly Parton, Tracy Lawrence and Tommy Lee. Taylor's album is being produced by Simon Climie, formerly of British hit duo Climie Fisher and a sometime collaborator with Eric Clapton and Faith Hill.

Former “American Idol” champion Taylor Hicks has aligned with artist services company Artist to Market for the release of his next album, due Feb. 10. The as-yet-untitled set, which Hicks is working on with producer Simon Climie, will carry the artists Modern Whomp Records imprint.
“In this digital age, when artists can connect more directly with audiences, this is a partnership that makes a lot of sense,” says Hicks.
