These days it doesn't take long for something to receive so much hype that it's over almost before it begins. A new Blender piece details " The 33 Most Overrated People, Places, Trends and Other Junk in Rock ." Among them: KISS , CBGB, winning American Idol and "Your favorite blogger's new favorite band." Each entry comes with an "underrated alternative," though, so not every dream is shattered. If you have any overrated additions to the list, feel free to add 'em. (And yes, it already includes "lists.")
