FilmWad — The independent movie "Silver Cord" has added Val Kilmer to its cast.  The movie is based on the story of director James Ordonez's brother, who survived being declared clinically dead on multiple occasions before eventually passing away in 2004.  This kind of thing can generally go one of two ways -- either the proximity of the writer to the story will imbue it with a unique personality and really help you invest in the characters, or it'll go too far and beatify the people involved, sapping the circumstances of any subtlety or anything that might be construed as "challenging."  The casting of Val Kilmer doesn't help ...

The Screening Log — Val Kilmer has signed on to star in James Ordonez’s upcoming thriller “Silver Cord,” according to Variety. Arielle Kebbel, Shane West and Eric Balfour also jumped on board. The film follows a man who loses the love of his life and launches into an out-of-body experience to find her.
