Mayer Hawthorne: Maybe So, Maybe No (Video) Posted Monday, August 10, 2009 @ 09:22 in Music by Doug M. Detroit native Mayer Hawthorne seems to be everyones new favorite. His old school style and ability to actually sing, without the use of autotune, makes him appealing to a lot of us. We cant wait for his CD A Strange Arrangement to drop officially here at URB, but until then well just play this video on loop. The 09 summer jam for sure. Never been to Los Angeles.. otside of stopping for gas on my way to the Bay Area. But this video from old-soul Mayer Hawthorne is giving that summer vibe that has been missing. Once again skaters are the focus of this video/post, poor aggressive bladers that can't get any love. Mayer Hawthorne - Maybe So, Maybe No from Stones Throw on Vimeo. ...

MAYER HAWTHORNE PREVIEW
soul sides —
Mayer Hawthorne - Maybe So, Maybe No from Stones Throw on Vimeo. Stones Throw just released a new video for Mayer's “Maybe So, Maybe No” cover. Nice little summer party toward the end of the video. A couple of shout-outs to the King of Pop are mixed in the video, too. Also, you can hear “Your Easy Lovin (Ain't Pleasin Nothin)” from his upcoming album here. He definitely shows his Detroit roots with this nice little Motown Sound backbeat. With the mini-break coming out of that first hook, I always think The Supremes are going to jump in with “No love, love... ...

New Music: Mayer Hawthorne – Your Easy Lovin’, Video, Tour Dates
The Couch Sessions —
... His track “Maybe So, Maybe No” is still one of my favorite I’ve heard this year. I’m not feelin’ this track “Your Easy Lovin’” as much as some of the other ones I’ve heard, but I still think that A Strange Arrangement might be one of the more anticipated albums of 2009.
Mayer goes on Tour this Fall including a stop at DC9.

New Mayer Hawthorne - "Your Easy Lovin' Ain't Pleasin' Nothin'" thubmnail icon: New Mayer Hawthorne - "Your Easy Lovin' Ain't Pleasin' Nothin'" Los Angeles-via-Ann Arbor singer/DJ/producer/multi-instrumentalist Mayer Hawthorne basically does everything on A Strange Arrangement , his debut full-length for Stones Throw. He has a sort of throwback Detroit soul sound and cites Isaac Hayes, Curtis Mayfield, Barry White, Leroy Hutson, Smoke Robinson, etc., as influences. It's smooth stuff that ought to be enjoyed by a wide demographic. Maybe the Strange in the album title comes ...
Mayer Hawthorne Explores The Sunnier Side of Life In 'Maybe So, Maybe No'
SOULBOUNCE.COM —
Much has been made of Stones' Throw recording artist Mayer Hawthorne. This Michigan native and multi-instrumentalist has one of the most heavily-anticipated debut albums of the year (barring Whitney's), and his breezy, nostalgic vibe permeates his music in a very authentic way. His video for "Maybe So, Maybe No" perfectly typifies the aforementioned style, and reminds me so much of what I used to hear on the radio as a little kid. My only issue is that I often long for someone with a bit more heft in their voice to sing these songs of his. In any case, this video does a great job of ...
