Warner Brothers has announced that it is closing both Picturehouse and Warner Independent Pictures. Many, including those in the independent film community, are up in arms about it meaning the end of their way of business. But is it really? Let’s face it, both of these arms were redundant. They didn’t need two art film distributors. And if you look at both studios, neither had much success moving beyond the arthouse. Look at some of the recent Warner Independent Releases.
