Will Smith's 'Hancock' Soars To Fast Start: Predicted $115M High For July 4th Wkd

(To compare, Iron Man took in $5 mil from its Thursday night shows on May before its official Friday [...] [link]

"Hancock" Already Killing It At The Box Office
Published 7/2/2008 at FilmWad
Hollywood uberreporter Nikki Finke is reporting that "Hancock" has already made $7 million off its extremely limited Tuesday night showings (two shows at each of the 3,680 theaters showing it). This is huge. How huge? In comparison, "Wall-E" made $7.7 million from the entire day of screenings and "Iron Man," took in $5 million from the few Tuesday night shows before its Wednesday premier). ...

So much for "Bad" reviews: "Hancock" Soars...
Published 7/2/2008 at OH NO!!
... SOURCE I saw it last night. Sure it is not "The Dark Knight", but it also wasn't the huge trainwreck people are making it out to be.  It was entertaining. And at least "Hancock" didn't feature a scene where he miraculously survives an atomic explosion by hiding in a fridge.

Hancock Will Rule The Weekend, Critics Be Damned [Critical Mass]
Published 7/2/2008 by Maria at Jezebel
... is the King Of Independence Day, and his newest movie, Hancock , about a sort of anti-superhero in search of a new image, is said to be on track for a high-flying $115 million opening weekend ...despite a chorus of negative reviews from the country's major movie critics. A quite loud chorus, soon to be drowned out by Mr. Smith's cackles as he laughs all the way to the bank. (Those reviews, after the jump.) ...

Big Opening, Bigger Disappointment
Published 7/3/2008 by Perez Hilton at Celebrity gossip juicy celebrity rumors Hollywood gossip blog from Perez Hilton
As you probably know by now, Will Smith seems to own the July 4th weekend for movie releases. His Independence Day, Men In Black, and Men In Black 2 movies have netted millions over the holiday weekend. So, it's no shocker that his latest film, Hancock, is out this July 4th as well. The movie is already off to a good start and its expected to make over $100 mill this weekend. Unfortunately for all those involved, the movie is getting shiteous reviews! Will U go ...

Hancock is a Ssssmash: So What Did You Think?
Published 7/4/2008 by slashfilm.com at /Film
... Since Tuesday, Hancock has grossed over $40 million domestically and is on track to stack $100 million plus by wke’s end. While early word from critics and geeks is decidingly mixed, that’s a lot of moolah for Will Smith, director Peter Berg (his first major hit), and Sony. How puzzling then that Nikke Finke says there are serious doubts circling inside the studio regarding Hancock’s franchise potential—she even compares the film’s buzz to Wild ...

5 REASONS YOU'LL HATE HANCOCK

Not much story behind this one – just a really awkward interview with Will Smith (he may not be a Scientologist yet, but he sure has the acting like a jovial, narcissistic robot thing down), that Cracked chopped up in order to make Will Smith look like more of a jackass. Really, it's like shooting fish in a barrel, or slap boxing a kid with cerebral palsy. Not difficult, exactly, but fun.
