... film? Yup, you get You Don't Mess with the Zohan. Oh trust me Mr. Zohan, I won't mess with you -- I won't even go near you. Adam Sandler’s “You don’t mess with the Zohan” trailer
Published 12/14/2007 by Mike at A Mike Life
I came across this trailer today and said, “Self, that was pretty funny”.
Then I went to IMDB (the haven for movie buffs) to research it a bit and I saw this:
“Written by Adam Sandler AND Judd Apatow.”
The next thing I said was “Self, if Judd Apatow is involved in this, it possibly could be the best Adam Sandler movie ever.”
Self agreed with me and so here we are. The movie is called “You don’t mess with the Zohan” and the plot summary is stranger than anything you probably could come up with on your own, even if ...

New You Don’t Mess With the Zohan poster
Published 4/16/2008 by Chris at Movie Marketing Madness
There so many, many things that are disturbing about this new poster for Adam Sandler’s You Don’t Mess With the Zohan that it’s kind of hard to keep track.
For one, you have Sandler’s mug staring at you all coifed and such, which is disconcerting enough. But add on to that the fact that, for all intents and purposes, this is a clear shot of Sandler’s…umm…area, and you have an image that is so disturbing I actually forgot who and where I was for a moment because of all the blacking out I was doing.

Nothing in the trailers have suggested anything other than a silly romp (note: you CAN make kid films that are more than just silly, burp and fart jokes flicks) movie with any reedeming value or quality. The animation does look terrific, and I’m sure the kids will giggle through it… so it won’t be a total waste… maybe some potential for cuteness.

My review of You Don't Mess with the Zohan is now up at CT Movies. There are several points I toyed with making in this review but never got around to, either for word-count reasons or because my writing just got into a certain groove and I didn't feel I could shoehorn them in. These include: The sheer abundance of hummus. The fact that Zohan has posters of KISS frontman Gene Simmons, who was born in Israel, and eyepatched Israeli general Moshe Dayan on his bedroom wall -- which neatly sums ...

Movie Reviews Review: You Don't Mess with the Zohan By Brian Orndorf, Senior Reviewer There's much to celebrate in "You Don't Mess with the Zohan," ( IMDb listing ) which marks the return of Adam Sandler to an unhinged level of farce he's been trying to stifle recently in his career. However, "Zohan" is like a second piece of birthday cake: it looks and tastes terrific, but it's just too much indulgence. Hey, I'm just thrilled Sandler has stopped trying to pluck heartstrings for the first time in a long time. A Mossad agent who's impervious to pain and holds a magnetic ...

... Comedy being an intensely subjective thing, it doesn't really do for me to declare that You Don't Mess with the Zohan isn't a funny movie and leave for greener pastures. At the very least, the girl sitting in the theater behind me and to the left clearly thought it was extremely funny, and I'd be a damnable liar if I said that I never giggled once, or even just a few times. That's enough, I guess, to say that the film exceeds expectations; for who over the age of thirteen would have had the most modest of hopes for a film where Adam Sandler plays a Mossad agent who fakes his ...

Background: Maybe it's just me, but for a second there I thought Adam Sandler was done with comedy. He weirded up for Punch-Drunk Love, tried a romantic novela with Spanglish, and swung for the Oscar fences with Reign Over Me. Of course, the truth was that he frequently squeezed comedies in between, but I just avoided almost all of them after Big Daddy. With You Don't Mess With the Zohan, Sandler reteams with his usual director, Dennis Dugan (don't let Happy Gilmore ...
