Roland Emmerich’s 2012 Teaser Trailer
Film Junk —
It used to be that director Roland Emmerich would take a few years in between his films, and perhaps understandably so, since the guy pretty much exclusively directs massive special effects blockbusters. However, after the disappointing 10,000 B.C. (which still earned $269 million worldwide) he seems eager to bounce back with another new project called 2012. Starring John Cusack, Woody Harrelson, Thandie Newton, Danny Glover, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Amanda Peet, the story revolves around (what else?) the end of the world.
The first teaser trailer has gone online this week, and although it doesn’t show any of the actors or ...
2012
Sarahnomics —
Clearly I go crazy for stuff like this (see post below) regardless of the fact that I’m sure the film will be a piece of shit (courtesy Roland Emmerich - who gave birth to the steaming heap that is 10,000 BC), however this teaser sure makes my nerdlinger heart race!
4 Bizarre Films Coming To A Theater Near You [Cinema Verite]
Gawker —
In the excitement following last year's Hollywood writer's strike, a lot of projects got restarted or greenlit. The fruits of those labors are now unfolding in movie theaters across the country, and some of them are too weird to live, and too rare to die. Whether it was studio enthusiasm to get any project going, any at all, or a desire to repeat the same old formulas and see if they could still make money (or do so for the first time), these upcoming films seem particularly unlikely to succeed: Are the executives who put together these projects high, or just crazy enough to be billionaires? The Film: Four ...
Trailer Watch: 2012 Number One
Thompson On Hollywood —
German-born Roland Emmerich is a director of great visual and technological skill who can be brilliant (Independence Day, Day After Tomorrow) or awful (10,000 B.C., Godzilla), depending on the material. Having found his greatest success with end-of-the-world scenarios, he's going back to the well with 2012, due next summer. The ...

The Year in Trailer Review: Paul Clark's Favorite Trailers of 2008, Part 2
The Screengrab —
Like last year’s trailer for Cloverfield or even the teaser for The Matrix, the first spot for Eagle Eye was a brilliant bit of teasing, tantalizing audiences by saying just enough about the plot to reel them in without spoiling any of the movie’s secrets. The Eagle Eye teaser does little more than establish the characters and set up the film’s premise, but that’s enough. Reviews for the film convinced me to stay away, but really, how could it possibly live up to this?
How do you boil ...
Galactic Alignment Predicted for 2012, Nostradamus, Mayans Predict Catasthropic Events Possible
The Hinterland Gazette —
I watched a show in the History Channel about the predictions of impending doom in 2012. I was taken aback by the dire predictions and the association with Nostradamus. According to the Mayan calendar, something DRASTIC is supposed to happen - either the end of the world, a spiritual awakening or both. Their calendar just STOPS. Finito! Naturally my interest was piqued and I did some research. The date is December 21, 2012 AD. The problem is that there is zero scientific evidence that anything will happen, but there are numerous things that could easily threaten the human species in the year ...
Emmerich Brings Destruction (Again)
Row Three —
2012 Movie Still S o we didn’t post it but I’m assuming that in passing most folks have heard something or other about Roland Emmerich’s upcoming film 2012 which from the title alone, I took to be some end of the world, Mayan calendar disaster movie. I was only partly right. You see, no one told me this would also be a direct ripoff of Deep Impact . So it’s not caves but spaceships. Seriously…what gives? It stars John Cusack, Thandie Newton, Woody Harrelson, Amanda Peet, Danny Glover, Oliver Platt and the totally awesome Chiwetel Ejiofor and includes huge special effects which are bound to attract the big crowds but I just can’t get over the ...
