A Single Man, official trailer
Awards Daily —
Has there been a more posh and sophisticated trailer all year? Maybe Broken Embraces comes close. In fact, Tom Ford’s precise framing, bold erotic backdrops, and eye-popping splashes of color remind me very much of Amoldovar’s flair for expressive visual extravagance.
If A Single Man has the brains to match its good looks, and somehow fails to make the final 10, I’ll wonder what happened to the Academy members who annually select Best Picture nominees like Atonement, Brokeback Mountain, Sideways, Lost in Translation, The Hours, Moulin Rouge, and other films that play to literate ...
A Single Man official Trailer
KillerFilm —
Out among the front runners for this years Best Actor race, Colin Firth stars in fashion mogul turned Hollywood director Tom Ford’s directorial debut, “A Single Man”. Now a month prior to it’s release, The Weinstein Company, who are already hard at work on this brilliant film’s Oscar campaign have released it’s first ‘official’ trailer. The biggest difference in the two trailers released include the ever so subtle reviews implanted in the trailer, such as, “There is already Oscar buzz for Julianne Moore”.

Can You Even Tell A Single Man Is a Homosexual Movie From This Trailer?
Queerty —
So this is the new trailer for Tom Ford's film A Single Man, which stars Colin Firth as an Oscar winner. And, according to Harvey Weinstein, who bought the film, it will also make Ford a Best Director or Best Picture winner. And, according to this trailer, it will also make audiences completely confused that the film is about gay stuff!

Is Colin Firth’s new film “too gay” for mainstream audiences?
Cele|bitchy —
I’ve been reading a lot about fashion designer-turned-writer/director Tom Ford’s debut film, A Single Man, and I‘m intrigued. It looks really good, and it’s been getting overwhelmingly positive reviews. The film is a day-in-the-life story of a British, gay professor (played by Colin Firth) living in California in the 1960s. I think the gist of it is that Firth’s character’s lover recently died, and Colin Firth’s character is considering suicide. The film also stars Julianne Moore, Matthew Goode, Lee Pace and Nicholas Hoult. Many critics already have Colin Firth, Julianne Moore and Tom Ford down for Oscar nominations - so, of ...
De-gaying movies: Why bother?

De-gaying movies: Why bother? By Vadim Rizov on 11/10/2009 Filed under: Marketing [image] Due on December 11th, Tom Ford's "A Single Man" is one of the more hotly-tipped Oscar frontrunners. It's got just the right combination of gears in motion: a prestigious literary source (Christopher Isherwood), period production design (the early '60s), and the Weinstein brothers handling the Oscar push. But after paying a reported $2 million for the rights to Ford's directorial debut in Toronto, the Weinsteins apparently only just realized that the film was, uh, gay. For those who saw the film in Toronto or Venice, suspicions were first aroused last ...
The Folks at the Weinstein Company Should be Ashamed of Themselves

Oftentimes I’ll put up a heading that makes you wonder what the article is truly about. Not today. Today is a day for blatant statements.
Colin Firth is the star of an upcoming film titled The Single Man. This is Tom Ford’s — yes, designer Tom Ford — directorial debut and he’s responsible for Trailer #1. The Weinstein Company is responsible for trailer #2 in which they basically threw visual bleach over the entire preview. It tells a completely different story of the film; almost all ...
