Top 7 Performance Night - Theme: The Songs of Mariah Carey I really had to restrain myself from titling this post with some variation of "Touch My Body". Also, if I used that in a sentence with David Archuleta, I'd probably be arrested. So Mariah Carey is desperate to sell some records huh? My friends Deb and Glenn will have the full AMERICAN IDOL recap, but I wanted to post some of my favorite videos of the night. My boy David Cook rocked it out tonight. I don’t think anything will ever top David Cook’s performance of “Billie Jean” but his take on “Always Be My Baby” was pretty special. It was an emotional performance for David whose brother, who is suffering from brain cancer, was in the audience tonight. Did you like it as much as I did?

Once again David Cook blew me away this time singing Mariah Carey’s Always Be My Baby! He just knows how to make a song his own even it is cover of a cover! He is the first contestant to really change it up on American Idol and not sacrifice who is he and make it interesting and not boring like Bo Bice.
As you know besides being an amazing performance it was an emotional one. His brother who is battling brain cancer flew out to see his little brother sing on the Idol stage. American Idol Top 7 performed Mariah Carey's songbook last night and even though I wasn't really looking forward to this week, David Cook sang a touching version of "Always Be My Baby" which was much better than the original. I just knew last night's"American Idol" would be tear-inducing and I was right. I mean, you couldn't have scripted it better: David Cook , one of the AI frontrunners, having his cancer-stricken brother in the audience as he blows the judges away with his rendition of Mariah Carey's"Always Be My Baby?" David Cook performed Mariah Carey’s ‘Always Be My Baby’ last night and it was AMAZING!! Truly amazing, loved every second of it.
What made his performance even more special is that his brother Adam Cook, who is battling brain cancer, was there cheering him on in the front row.
When David finished the Mariah Carey song, Adam gave him a standing ovation and David wiped his eyes.
“You have tears,” host Ryan Seacrest said after giving the audience the number to vote. “He’s in tears right now.”

MOST AWESOME PERFORMANCE: This one's a three-way tie between celebrity mentor Mariah Carey, American Idol, and my boy David Cook.
