American Idol Top 8 GuysGroovin' to the '80s
Published 3/5/2008 by Idol Addict at American Idol - I'm the One That You Want
This is the last week of eliminations to reach the Top 12 finalists, and, we must admit, the men are sounding pretty good. Most of them were able to find songs that both fit their voices and style for the week's theme, which is the '80s. Of course, we had to sit through the video clip for each contestant. The theme of those was "my most embarrassing moment," and, frankly, some were just TMI. Did we really need to know that David Hernandez did a photo shoot with a big booger hanging out of his nose? And did that bit of TMI knock him to the No. 7 (of 8) ranking on DialIdol.com, even though he did a nice job with his song? Actually, it was ...

Which Hallelujah is the highest?
Published 3/12/2008 by Jon Wilde at Music: Music blog | guardian.co.uk
Creator of a classic ... Leonard Cohen. Photograph: Eamonn McCabe Hallelujah's journey from obscurity to the top of the charts - where it raced after contestant Jason Castro performed it on American Idol - is a strange and complicated one. Written by Leonard Cohen and included on his 1984 album Various Positions , its debut outing went largely unnoticed. For the simple reason that Cohen's original is nothing much to write home about. For once, Laughing Len is unable to make the song submit to his will. Cohen's Hallelujah is ponderous, lacking in conviction and purpose. With hindsight, it's easy to say that here ...

Jason Castro sang “ Hallelujah ” and it was good. I didn’t go crazy for it or anything but I think he put some emotion into it.  Randy said he did a pretty good job, Paula said he made it sound effortless and showed vulnerability and Simon thought it was absolutely brilliant and said that Jason is “getting better and better and better.” CR: Frank ...

Jason Castro 'Hallelujah' Video and Lyrics

This is one of my favorite songs of all time. So, I didn’t think Jason Castro’s version of “Hallelujah” was a brilliant as Simon did, but it wasn’t terrible. It wasn’t Jeff Buckley, and it wasn’t Leonard Cohen. It wasn’t even Rufus Wainwright or Imogen Heap. But, I like this kid. If he wins American Idol he’s gonna buy a whole lotta weed.
