Last Look: 'Buffy: The Animated Series'
Published 8/4/2008 by Marc Bernardin at Entertainment Weekly's PopWatch
Last Look: 'Buffy: The Animated Series' There are plenty of things in the entertainment firmament I don't understand. Pauly Shore. Digimon. According to Jim . But for the life of me, I can't figure how anyone could have NOT handed Joss Whedon et al a coffin full of money and made this TV show a reality? Just... look at it. The animation is smooth — clearly of the Bruce Timm/ Batman: The Animated Series mold (and that's always a good thing) — the voicework is spot on (I believe that's Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon, and Anthony Stewart Head reprising their roles; and whoever they got to fill in for SMG is a dead ringer), and it vibes ...

What Do You Make of Buffy: The Animated Series?
Published 8/4/2008 by BuzzSugar at BuzzSugar -- Entertainment hourly.
[image] This little clip of an animated version of Buffy the Vampire Slayer has been making the rounds on the Internet, and for good reason: It's completely fascinating to see what a cartoon Sunnydale, filled with two-dimensional Buffy, Willow, Giles, and friends, might have looked like had it ever been made into a series. Alas, the project — which counted among its writers Buffy 's Jane Espenson — never came to be, so this little three-minute clip may be all we'll ever see. But at least it's something, right? And no, your ears don't deceive you: That's Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendan, and Anthony Head voicing their ...

Buffy Toon Rises from the Dead
Published 8/4/2008 by Kirby at Movie Dearest
A four-minute teaser of the never aired Buffy the Vampire Slayer animated series has appeared out of nowhere online. And tease is right ... this looked like it would have been Buff-tastic. You can read all about the aborted show's history here, but safe to say that all those networks that turned it down were clueless about the appeal of Buffy and her Scooby gang in toon, Batman: The Animated Series-style form. Since this clip has surfaced, fans have already created a Facebook tribute page to it, rallying for a rebirth of the project. If the series were reborn, it ...

Buffy the Animated Series: What Might Have Been
Published 8/5/2008 by B-Sol (noreply@blogger.com) at The Vault of Horror
Yes, there really was going to be a Buffy the Vampire Slayer cartoon. As a matter of fact, Joss Whedon was developing it for Fox Kids four years ago. Unfortunately, the project never got beyond a four-minute teaser clip. However, that clip has now surfaced online (EW ...

See the Long Lost Buffy Cartoon
Published 8/5/2008 by Rob Bricken at Topless Robot
I suppose it's kind of awesome that the long-lost Buffy the Vampire Slayer cartoon pilot has finally shown up online, but I'm going to choose to be depressed about it. Why? Because it's clear from watching this four-minute clip (don't panic, this is all that was made for Fox back in 2001 as a pitch) that BtVS was going to be a freaking awesome cartoon, and thus we have been robbed of an amazing amount of entertainment. Sez Animation Magazine, who found the clip: Actress Giselle Loren, who provided the voice of Buffy in the two ...

The Telefile - Buffy Summers' Re-Animated Corpse
Published 8/5/2008 at The Telefile
YouTube now has the four-minute pilot footage, and it's pretty awesome. We see Buffy killing a vampire and jumping onto fire escapes, then a lot of clever banter between her, Willow, Xander and Giles -- all of them voiced by the original actors except for Buffy, who is voiced by SMG sound-alike Giselle Loren. (She also did the Buffy video games. However, I have no idea who does the vampire's voice, so I'm not sure if it's supposed to be funny when he says, "There are things in the dark. Dark things.") The trial footage ends on a cliffhanger, with Buffy punching a dragon miles above Sunnydale -- something the live-action show ...

Guys, the ‘Buffy’ Animated Series Might Have Been Kind of Bad
Published 8/5/2008 at Vulture

Buffy Animated Series Goes Viral
Published 8/5/2008 by Cynthia at SF Universe - Science Fiction News
Look what’s popped up on the viral video charts.  A three minute bite from the Buffy the Animated Series that never took flight.  Handily voice-acted by Alyson Hannigan, Nicholas Brendon and Anthony Head, it’s way too cool to have died such an early death.  Sigh. ...

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Animated Series Promo Leaks Online
Published 8/6/2008 by Sean at Film Junk
Hey Whedon fans… did you know that there was a Buffy animated series in development back in 2001, but none of the networks wanted to pick it up? Who am I kidding… of course you do. Several writers from the show were writing scripts for it, and most of the original cast members were doing their respective character’s voices, with the exception of Sarah Michelle Gellar. (Buffy was voiced by Giselle Loren, who also played Buffy in the Xbox games.) There is some test footage from an episode that has found its way online this week for anyone who is interested in what might have been. It seems to have sparked some new interest in the series, ...

‘Buffy The Vampire Slayer’ Animated Series To Be Resurrected?
Published 12 days ago by Jennifer Vineyard at MTV Movies Blog
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” has been many things — so much so that creator Joss Whedon jokes, “I got to make a comic book out of the TV show out of the movie out of the T-shirt out of the opera of the song of the bumper sticker of the shoe line that I love.” One of the things he left out in the absurdly long list is an animated series — which was actually in the pipeline once upon a time, and looks to find new life once again. Back in 2002, Whedon and Jeph Loeb came up with the idea of doing an animated version of Buffy that would take place somewhere in season one. “We liked to call ...

Promo Pilot for Buffy the Animated Series Leaked
Published 10 days ago by slashfilm.com at /Film
For some time now, the idea of a Buffy the Vampire Slayer animated series has been something that has left Joss Whedon fans salivating with anticipation. According to Wikipedia, we know that Whedon and comic writer Jeph Loeb started working on the series around 2001–but various complications prevented any real development until 2004, when a 3 1/2 minute pilot was produced featuring most of the show’s original cast members. The role of Buffy was played by Giselle Loren, best known for voicing the character in the Buffy video games. The pilot was never picked up, and the project ...

Animated Buffy Leaks Online
Published 10 days ago by James Cook at TheMovingPicture.net
Back in 2001 Joss Whedon and Jeph Loeb, an award-winning comic book writer, began production on an animated Buffy the Vampire series, which would have taken place in the middle of the first season of the live-action show. Unfortunately for many fans it never made it to the screen, as no network was willing to buy the series. But thanks to the magic of the internet a short 3 minute promo clip for the series has hit You Tube. (more…)
