On Sunday afternoon, a zombiefied press corps at the Beverly Hilton perked up slightly for Sci Fi Channel's "Caprica" panel. "Caprica" is the "Battlestar Galactica" prequel, and it takes place 51 years before "Battlestar's" action begins. Its story revolves around two rival families, the Graystones and the Adamas. Esai Morales plays Joseph Adama -- "Battlestar" fans will already know that Joseph is the father of Edward James Olmos' Admiral William Adama. The Sci-Fi Channel released a promo trailer for Battlestar Galactica prequel Caprica yesterday, and I'm rather confused, as I was under the assumption that Caprica was going to be a science fiction series. Yet the trailer just shows Eric Stoltz and crew gabbing and running around and making each other uncomfortable in a very normal city setting (although, there did appear to be a neat futuristic tennis court). I suppose since they're all going to die hideously anyways, it doesn't much matter.

The folks behind Battlestar Galactica might need to invest in some St. John’s Wort or perhaps start doing yoga. We all know that Battlestar is intense, but the prequel, Caprica, seems to be just as dramatic.
From the looks of it, there’ll be a lot of furrowed brows and pacing.

The series averaged about 2.8 million viewers during its first season, and by the mid-season finale of season 4 that number had fallen to 1.8 million.
