Last night Daniel Day-Lewis won the Best Actor in a Leading Role for his part in There Will Be Blood. He dedicated the award to Heath Ledger. His speech is below. When asked why he dedicated the award to him Day-Lewis said: "I suppose that's all I've been thinking about for the last few days. I never met him. I thought he was beautiful. I just have a very strong feeling that I would have liked him very much as a man... I admired him very much."

Daniel Day Lewis took home The Actor for Outstanding Male Actor in a Leading Role for There Will Be Blood and dedicated his award to Heath Ledger. Lewis stated after the speech that he had never met Ledger, but said:
“I suppose that’s all I’ve been thinking about for the last few days. I never met him. I thought he was beautiful. I just have a very strong feeling that I would have liked him very much as a man. …I admired him very much.”

Last night actor Heath Ledger was remembered at the 2008 SAG awards. One of the most touching moments of the night came when actor Daniel Day-Lewis , who was accepting his award as outstanding male actor for "There Will Be Blood," gave a moving tribute to Heath Ledger. "Of course, in Brokeback Mountain he was unique," Day-Lewis said. "He was perfect. And that scene in the trailer at the end of the film is as moving as anything I have ever seen."
