Death Race Finally Has a Trailer The first trailer for Paul W.S. Anderson’s remake of the Roger Corman cult classic Death Race is finally online, and believe it or not it actually looks like fun, granted completely ridiculous fun. The movie stars Jason Statham as a prison inmate who must compete in a Death Race to earn his freedom. The flick also stars Ian McShane, Tyrese Gibson, and Joan Allen. It opens on August 22, 2008 . • Am I so stupid as to confuse Beth Littleford and Joan Allen? Apparently, yes. Thank god I now have coffee in me.
• Ian McShane? Really? The man was so awesome in Deadwood—can't we just give him a stipend so he doesn't have to appear in stuff like this?
• There's no way this will be a good movie, but..could it really still be entertaining?

If Jason Statham is really a movie star then why does he keep making movies like Death Race? And how in the world did they convince a quality actress like Joan Allen to appear in a film like this?
And I don’t want to pick the plot to death, but these guys are given racing cars that are armored, 30mm machine guns, and napalm… Maybe instead of trying to kill each other they should just escape. They pretty much have everything they need.
