“Falling Slowly”
Published 2/25/2008 by Evil Beet at Evil Beet Gossip
This song took home the Oscar, and I have to say I was absolutely taken with this little ditty when I saw the film. It’s so simple and beautiful. I just had to post it. This entry was posted on Sunday, February 24th, 2008 at 10:44 pm and is filed under Uncategorized ...

Last Night's Academy Awards: Not on YouTube
Published 2/25/2008 by Scott Kirsner at CinemaTech
Last year, I wrote about how the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences requested that YouTube yank any clips from the Oscar telecast...and yet the official Oscar site didn't offer much video to Oscar-obsessed Internet users. The same thing is happening this year. Oscar.com offers mostly footage from the "thank you" cam, a backstage opportunity for winners to be more profuse in their gratitude. And on YouTube, nearly all clips from the telecast are being zapped almost immediately. (Someone posted the "In Memoriam" tribute to actors who died in 2007, and it was removed within about 12 minutes.) I wonder if this is YouTube's ...

Oscars in Rewind: Falling Slowly Provides Best Oscar Moment
Published 2/25/2008 by Erik Davis at Cinematical
Filed under: Awards, Oscar Watch, Trailers and Clips A lot of people will be talking about Marion Cotillard today, whose teary-eyed acceptance speech was just beyond cute. But I feel the night's greatest moment came in two parts -- first when Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova performed Falling Slowly (from the movie Once) on stage, and then when both accepted the Oscar for best song. In a very cool moment, Irglova was cut off at the mic before she could thank anyone, and so after the commercial break Jon Stewart brought her back on stage to ...

CELEBS GONE GOOD got a glimpse of brand-new Oscar -winner Glen Hansard in New York City’s Union Square today while he was helping some friends working on a student film. Just in case you don’t already know Glen , he’s one-half of the duo behind the soundtrack for the amazingly beautiful film, Once . (The Oscar was for his and girlfriend Markéta Irglová’ s Best Original Song, the heartbreaking “Falling Slowly.” If you missed the Academy Awards , check out this clip of their performance. (BTW, Marketa wasn’t with him today.)  Clearly, his newfound fame hasn’t gone to his head. Although he was busy filming, he took the time to ...

Best Song: “Falling Slowly” from “Once”
“Falling Slowly” by Irish musician Glen Hansard and Czech-born Marketa Irglova from the small film “Once” has won the Academy Award. The understated and haunting song has generated a lot of buzz for the low-budget Irish film, and for two previously unknown first-time actors.
