Culture Bully — Home Video The Flaming Lips on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien

late night: the flaming lips
BaebleMusic — [image] The Flaming Lips brought their insanity to ever-trending Conan O'Brien's late night bazaar, and wow. It was bizarre, and crazy, and wonderful. Although the sound suffered a little from that late-night flat sounding mixing, Wayne still fell down at the end, probably exhausted from listening to the non-stop gonging going on behind him. I pity the load-in for that detail. Embryonic is out now, via Warner, and it's really good, guys. - joe puglisi * * * * * * * * * * * * The Flaming Lips on Myspace

Flaming Lips – Watching the Planets (Live on Conan O’Brien)
BUZZGRINDER

[Video] new Flaming Lips: "Watching The Planets" (Live on Conan)
i guess i'm floating — Conan has had one hell of a musical lineup this week, kicking off Monday with Grizzly Bear and special guest Victoria Legrand. While I was hoping everyone's favorite Bear band would perform their achingly beautiful new track "Slow Life" off of the New Moon soundtrack (also featuring Victoria), but played it safe with the sure-fire "Two Weeks". Last night, however, The Flaming Lips were in full-on new album mode, promoting the distortedly dark Embryonic by playing "Watching The Planets" - a song on the LP featuring Karen O's backing vocals. Although Karen O wasn't there, Wayne made sure to jump around plenty, ...

The Flaming Lips Bring "Watching The Planets" To Conan
Stereogum — The Flaming Lips Bring "Watching The Planets" To Conan thumbnail icon: The Flaming Lips Bring "Watching The Planets" To Conan The Flaming Lips have already done Colbert in support of their recently released, return-to-freak LP Embryonic , but there's something particularly amusing about seeing the Coyne company bring the gong-banging soundtrack to a bad-acid flashback "Watching The Planets"' to NBC's 11:30 time slot. But then again, the network's viewers were just slogging through the 10PM-slot mindfuck of passing off Jay Leno as "comedy," which is even trippier. Wayne's collapse in a put-on '60s psych stupor at song's end being immediately ...

Flaming Lips Perform Live "Watching the Planets" on The Tonight Show
The L Magazine - New York City's Local Event and Arts & Culture Guide — The Flaming Lips played Embryonic album-closer "Watching the Planets" on Conan last night, and goddamn, it was very good. Listening to the record, I find myself slightly bothered by how low the vocals sit in the mix, but in a live setting, when you can see first-hand how much crazy shit is going on, it's far less irksome, and in fact winds up seeming like a brilliant production choice. Pop Headwound — Seriously, who the hell saw this one coming? Cause=Time — The Flaming Lips are everywhere this week with the support of their crazy album, Embryonic.
