The first trailer for Lauren Graham’s new movie, Flash of Genius, has been released. A man who risked everything to sue the company to receive the recognition he deserved for this invention. Flash of Genius stars Greg Kinnear as Bob Kearns, Lauren Graham as Phyllis Kearns, Dermot Mulroney and Alan Alda. Flash of Genius will hit theaters on October 25, 2008. Prior ...

COMING WITH ALL DELIBERATE SPEED TO A THEATER NEAR YOU: Gary Ross is one of those directors I wish would work more--Pleasantville was a darn fine film, and Seabiscuit wasn't half bad--to have also written Big and Dave means I'll give pretty much anything he's directing a chance--and certainly his just-announced Crusaders, in which he'll (again) direct Tobey Maguire in a film about Brown v. Board of Education written by Danny Strong (Emmy nominated for writing Recount) has basically pre-sold me a ticket. Sure, not as exciting as Lauren ...

PopWatch Previewer: 'The Express,' 'Flash of Genius, 'Patti Smith,' and more! Quaidkinnear_l Last week, a friend of mine suggested stopping off for coffee on the way to a movie. Any good movie fan knows that even if the feature presentation is hit or miss, the trailers never fail. A terrific preview provides the best kind of anticipatory thrill; a dreadful one gives you the pleasure of sneering and jeering, without having to shell out your hard-earned cash to see the whole thing. In that ...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cv-8FSGiOlQ Full disclosure: I’m a total sucker for this kind of David vs MegaGoliath historical tale of the little guy rocking the system. Rookie director Marc Abraham has 17 years of solid experience producing (Children of Men, Thirteen Days, The Commitments, The ...

FlashofGenius.jpg The trailer for Flash of Genius starring Greg Kinnear as the man who invented the intermittent windscreen wiper does seems like a contrived story, but the thing is it's true. While the car companies were struggling, this college professor managed to invent it and then carefully broker a deal with Ford to sell it to them. Like most corporate companies filled with greedy and ego and empire building mid-level managers, and not just back then either, Ford stole the idea and threw the deal out. However the professor wasn't going to let it rest and decided to take his own case to court and fight them for the credit. There's two times in my ...
