George Carlin on Death - RIP (video)
I saw this bit the first time it was performed live; it might give us a bit of insight on how to treat his death.

Goodnight, George Carlin
afrobella — Wow. 2008 is shaping up to be a terrible year for celebrity deaths. The last thing I expected when I turned on the news this morning, was to learn that legendary comedian George Carlin was dead. Carlin, age 71, succumbed to heart failure on Sunday evening. Angry, biting, but always funny — the man who hosted the very first episode of Saturday Night Live in 1975 was the consummate counterculture touring comedian. It’s one of my regrets that I never saw him perform live, although his 14 HBO comedy specials took his profane performances into homes throughout the US and around the world — ...

Goodnight, George
afrobella — Wow. 2008 is shaping up to be a terrible year for celebrity deaths. The last thing I expected when I turned on the news this morning, was to learn that legendary comedian George Carlin was dead. Carlin, age 71, succumbed to a heart attack on Sunday evening. Acerbic, angry, biting, but always funny — the man who hosted the very first episode of Saturday Night Live in 1975 was the consummate touring comedian. It’s one of my regrets that I never saw him perform live, although his 14 HBO comedy specials took his profane performances into homes throughout the US and around the world. I admired his dazzling ...

Rest In Peace, George Carlin
BuzzSugar — Will we ever know why we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway? No. But I'm glad we had George Carlin around to ask these questions. On Sunday, at the age of 71, the hilariously foul-mouthed comedian passed away from heart failure (and surely Carlin would make fun of that usage of "pass away" rather than just saying "died"; you can see his bit about death, now a funny, bittersweet video, here). Often regarded as one of the greatest stand-up comedians, he is today deemed a "counterculture hero" who pushed the envelope in regard to profanity, most famously with his "Seven Words You Can Never Say ...

George Carlin’s Animated Reflexivity. Clip of the Day
SpoutBlog — Though it may be more appropriate to watch videos of his comedy routines, particularly of his classic “Seven Dirty Words” bit or his routine on death, this is a film blog, so I’m sharing a clip from … an animated television series. But it’s a cartoon spun-off from a movie, Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure, which is probably Carlin’s most memorable film, so I find it worthy. Especially because Carlin reprised his role as Rufus. The first season of Bill and Ted’s Excellent Adventures actually featured ...

Peace The Spork Out : George Carlin
My Old Kentucky Blog — As everyone has probably heard already, one of our lifetime's comedic titans, George Carlin, died yesterday afternoon. I grew up in a very Catholic family growing up and Mr. Carlin provided me with the balance that I needed in regards to religion, moral issues, and life in general. I remember plopping down in front of the TV as a young kid watching him, Eddie Murphy and Richard Pryor. Was I too young to watch these? Probably, but I like to think that Carlin's stand-up routines made me a more open-minded person when it came to such hot topics like homosexuality, religion, race and abortion. Topics I might not otherwise ...

Video of the Day: We'll Miss You George Carlin
Cinematical — Filed under: Fandom, Trailers and Clips "So you know what Ive been doin' -- going through the address book and crossing out the dead people." -- George Carlin during his final HBO performance, It's Bad for Ya. I forget exactly which HBO special it was, but my first introduction to George Carlin was through the cable network when I was real young (we're talking early '80s). Funny story, too, as my mother and father caught me watching Carlin -- and all his profanity-laced commentary -- late one night when they arrived home from somewhere. My mother ...

George Carlin, Still Making Jokes
Gunaxin Media — George Carlin Last Words Legendary comedian George Carlin’s autobiography hit shelves this past week, more than a year after he kicked the bucket in June 2008 (Imagine how George would feel about the saying ‘Kick the bucket .’ He could easily get five minutes of material on that one alone). This book was written over the course of 15 years by Carlin’s friend, Tony Hendra. The first Amazon review of the book is by Carlin’s daughter, Kelly: 5 Stars… What can I say?, November 10, 2009 By K. Carlin “Polymind” (Los Angeles, CA USA) Okay, so I AM biased. BUT! I even learned things about my dad that I didn’t know. So imagine, if you are a fan, ...
