I've been a 'distant' admirer of James Franco since a few years back- probably watched almost all of his films, even those before his gritty performance as a drug addict accused of a crime, in City by the Sea. I was surprised at the rawness and forcefulness of his performance, even when his co-star happens to be Robert De Niro. What would have happened if he was cast to play Spiderman rather than just the supporting role he got?
