We posted back in July about rumours regarding Ghostbusters 3 and the involvement of Seth Rogen, Steve Carell and other Judd Apatow regulars. E interviewed Ghostbusters creator/star Dan Akroyd recently about a Ghostbusters 3 film and he had this to say:

Filmstalker —
Ghostbusters.jpg Dan Aykroyd has been talking about a possible third Ghostbusters film, and his short comment is being taken as word that there is movement on a Ghostbusters script and that it's being written. Well, I don't think so. What he's saying is that there are rumours and he would love the rumours to be true, and that's it, nothing more. Sorry Ghostbuster fans. The comments come from an online video of Dan Aykroyd ...

Dan Aykroyd Talks Possibilities For Ghostbusters 3
Cinema Blend News —
Dan Aykroyd Talks Possibilities For Ghostbusters 3 Dan Aykroyd is an icon of my childhood. Dan Akyroyd is a respected actor. Nowhere in this world does Dan Aykroyd deserve to be a tequila spokesman, particularly one reduced to wearing a lime green T-shirt bearing the logo of Patron tequila. But so it goes when you make your career in acting and can forever after make a mint just by showing up and holding a product. Aykroyd was in Toronto last week promoting his own wines as well as Patron, and the Canadian version of E! Online ...

Merrick here... The development of new GHOSTBUSTERS material has been somewhat confusing. There's a margin for error in my recap, but the upshot goes something like this: In no particular order... ** At one point, Dan Ackroyd was said to be developing what was identified as "GHOSTBUSTERS 3" with much of the original cast. This turned out to be a forthcoming video game written by Ackroyd and Harold Ramis, with most of the original cast returning except for the ever enigmatic Rick Moranis. ** There was talk that Ackroyd had written a live-action GHOSTBUSTERS 3 which was ginormous in scale and budgetarrily challenged. ...
Dan Akroyd Implies That ‘Ghostbusters 3’ Could Star McLovin
Vulture —
Rumors have been circulating for months over the possibility of a new live-action Ghostbusters sequel in which the original movies' cast turns over their ghost-busting responsibilities to Seth Rogen, Paul Rudd, and other soft-middled Apatow acolytes. Since this is clearly too awesome to possibly be true, Rogen denied it a few weeks ago. But, today, our friends at /Film direct us to a new interview with Dan Akroyd in which he subtly suggests that he knows otherwise. Yesterday, Akroyd told E! News the following (see video below):
Well, you know, two sharp young writers are ...

Dan Aykroyd Wants Rogen And Apatow To Cross Streams
Hollywood Hills - Movies and Television —
Rumors floated around like Slimer that Ghostbusters was being renewed by Seth Rogen and Judd Apatow’s clan. Both Rogen and Apatow denied the story, but turns out there was at least some truth to the matter. Ghostbusters is in fact being revived, just not by funnyman Apatow. Not yet at least.
E! went straight to the source, Dan Aykroyd, to get details:
“Two sharp young writers in Hollywood are reported to be writing the sequel, the third movie now. If I could interest Seth [Rogen] and Judd [Apatow] to be part of it, that would certainly be a ...
