The Jamie Foxx moonwalk stole the show at the BET Awards Sunday night, but Janet Jackson's poignant tribute to her brother Michael Jackson was a close second.
"My entire family wanted to be here tonight, but it was just too painful so they elected me to speak with you," she told the crowd at the Shrine Auditorium in L.A.
"I would just like to say that to you, Michael is an icon," said Janet, who wore all white. "To us, Michael is family, and he will forever live in all of our hearts."

As she said, to us he is an icon, but to her he is family. Hopefully our love and support will get her family through this horrible time. I’ve only seen some of the clips from the BET Awards that aired Sunday night, but it looked like a total tearjerker evening, even from the opening. Jamie Foxx was the host, and he “made his entrance in a red leather Billie Jean jacket” as “Beat It” played. Jamie then “showed off some of Jackson’s signature moves, including Jackson’s infamous crotch-grabbing routine.” BET’s site has a lot of links and video clips here.

Singer Janet Jackson paid tribute to her late brother Michael at the BET Awards last night. Janet fought back tears as she thanked fans for their support.
After Miss Jackson finished her speech, host Jamie Foxx sang the Jackson's "I'll Be There," along with musicians Stevie Wonder and Ne-Yo, as images of Michael were projected behind them.
To open the show, Foxx performed a medley of Jackson 5 hits to honor the late King of Pop. The host then reappeared onstage in Jackson 80's garb and performed his signature dance moves, including a crotch grab and the moonwalk.
