10 Things That Made Michael Unlike The Rest of Us
TFL Scandalist —
Michael Jackson truly was a man, a myth and a legend — often his personal life overshadowed his talent, but he had a vulnerability about him that made us forget the controversy and get lost in the music and that’s the legacy most will remember him for. It’s just that he was so mysterious, so unlike us. (He had the power to light up sidewalks! Did that have something to do with the oxygen chamber he slept in??) We’ve found some of the best and worst of Michael’s pop culture moments — the good, the bad and the on-fire — because as much as we remember him for the music, he was always doing ...

Activated by a Mirrorball: Jarvis Cocker
knicken // plakative platzierungen —
Jarvis Cocker on His New Album, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, and That Time He Bum-rushed Michael Jackson
Vulture —
Stateside, Jarvis Cocker is best known for "Common People," the hit 1995 single from seminal Britpop band Pulp. But in the U.K., Cocker, who's been flying solo since 2002, is a ubiquitous pop-culture icon: When he's not dropping albums — like May's excellent, atypically rocking Further Complications — he's doing things like guest-hosting BBC Radio or philosophizing on political TV shows. Since Michael Jackson's death, Cocker's also done some talking about an odd incident at the 1996 BRIT Awards when, spurred by his distaste for Jackson's Christlike posing during a performance of "Earth Song," Cocker invaded the ...

"Fighting the urge to get Jarvis Cocker for that MJ incident some years back. Dude looks THROWED." -- ?uestlove considers retribution for that time Jarvis crashed Michael Jackson's BRIT Awards performance in 1996 while watching the former Pulp singer perform on "Jimmy Fallon" last night. (P.S. That's just how Jarvis dances, dude!) (via @questlove)
Jarvis Cocker Visits Jimmy Fallon, Escapes Wrath Of Questo
Stereogum —
Jarvis Cocker Visits Jimmy Fallon, Escapes Wrath Of Questo thumbnail icon: Jarvis Cocker Visits Jimmy Fallon, Escapes Wrath Of Questo Last night Jarvis Cocker gave a spirited and loose-limbed performance of his Further Complications title track. He clearly enjoyed himself (and his magic hands ). To further complicate things, though, there was a certain Roots drummer on site who was less than thrilled with the Pulp man's presence. As Questo Tweeted during the evening's festivities: hmmm. fighting the urge to get jarvis cocker for that MJ incident some years back. dude looks THROWED. You be the judge of his throwedness. In case you forget, the ...
?uestlove Confused by His First-Ever Jarvis Cocker Encounter
Vulture —
Appearing on last night's Late Night With Jimmy Fallon was former Pulp leader (and recent Vulture interviewee) Jarvis Cocker, who turned in a characteristically excellent performance of "Further Complications," the title track from his uncharacteristically hard-rocking new album. Somehow not impressed, however, was Fallon's bandleader, ?uestlove, who tweeted the following during yesterday's taping:
"hmmm. fighting the urge to get jarvis cocker for that MJ incident some years back. dude looks THROWED."
He wasn't throwed, ?uestlove! Haven't you ever seen a gangly, ...
Jarvis Cocker Writes Songs for Forgetting Sarah Marshall Spinoff
The L Magazine - New York City's Local Event and Arts & Culture Guide —
I feel like I've been writing about Jarvis Cocker quite a bit of late. Or maybe I've just been watching this video of him disrupting a Michael Jackson performance at the 1996 BRIT Awards, followed immediately by this video of him in an interview after Jackson's death, talking about how the real tragedy of Jackson's life was that he spent the last 20 years of it making terrible music.
Anyway, more Jarvis news today: Billboard is reporting that he's written three songs that to be performed by Russel Brand's character, the archetypal rock star Alduous Snow, in Get Him to the Greek, a spinoff of last year's incredibly ...
