Guests included Beyonce , Fergie , Brandy , Ciara , Mary J Blige , Rihanna , LL Cool J , Ashanti , Justin Timberlake , Sean Paul , Mariah Carey , Tyra Banks , Keyshia Cole , Chris Brown , Kid Rock , and many others. (Every other artist kept their look simple in black.) Beyonce (and her $5 million dollar engagement ring ) was the night's consistent performer as she performed "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing" with Justin Timberlake, a Etta James tribute, and the "Just Stand Up" charity song .
