Mos Def: A Fan of DOOM
Hip Hop Is Read — This has gotta be one of the most insightful videos I've seen in a good minute. Courtesy of FroLab.com, Pretty Flaco kicks some of his favorite DOOM lines including a personal fave of my own (from MM..Food): "Is they rhymers or strippin males?/ ...

...But He Is a Good Rapper. And He's a Better Lil' Wayne Than Lil' Wayne
Straight Bangin' — While I am underwhelmed by MF Doom, the person, I remain a big fan of MF Doom, the rapper. And so does Mos Def. Peep this totally awesome video: Doom was always known to keep the best girls' backs bent. (HT: Ivan) - Passion of the Weiss has been killing it with the SXSW coverage. I generally hate SXSW. Or, maybe I hate the blogging and twittering about it. We all get it, people--you're at SXSW, and you think you're special because of it. Especially people who haven't been to Austin before and treat a SXSW ...

Mos Def Is MF DOOM
illRoots — It’s official. We now know for sure that DOOM has an impostor. That impostor is Mos Def. How dope would a collab be though? I know there was a mixtape that flipped that idea.

Mos Def a fan of DOOM
FWMJ's Rappers I Know — I been tellin’ folks since Operation: Doomsday and people cryin’ about commercial viability, beats not soundin’ like Young Guru mixed em, backpacker this, purist that. Straight up, when DOOM raps, I don’t want to listen hear to anyone else rapping. There are a few rappers I feel that way about, but this about DOOM.

Video: Mos Def is a DOOM fan
Blog Entries — I LOVE to see true emcees (especially one of Mos Def's caliber) who are not ashamed to admit they're fans of other emcees. I spotted this clip the other night on the boards featuring Mos Def in the studio (working on The Ecstatic ) and talking about how amazing he thinks DOOM is. DOOM definitely doesn't get the credit he deserves. Mos proceeds to spit verse after verse from DOOM (and dissects the hell out of 'em) and even names an emcee he thinks DOOM would smash on lyrically. DOOM's album, Born Like This is in stores now (catch up if you've been sleepin'), and Mos' The Ecstatic will be out June 9th.

DOOM, FOR THE WIN…
dallaspenn.com — [image] This is quite a way to wrap up the most discussions on rap music we have hosted on this site in a long time. If you are a rap fan then you should be in heaven right now. There are several albums being released that give you something to listen to other than ‘808s & Heartbreaks’. At least it gives me something else to listen to. There is nothing that I have been spinning more than the new DOOM album ‘Born Like This’. It’s laced with sick beats throughout and some of the most retarded rhymes I have ever listened to, since the last DOOM album I suppose. I love DOOM because of the shit he references and the fact he can flat out spit. ...

Mos Def’s a Fan of DOOM (Video)
2dopeboyz — I bet a million dollars on DOOM against Lil Wayne. The Culture Capture Champs catch Mos Def during an Ecstatic studio session, as Mos spits some of his favorite DOOM lyrics and talks about his influences. June 9th is the day. True story… folks sleep on DOOM’s skills ...

“Fraternals…” - On Why I Listen To DOOM
The Smoking Section — Words By K1NG I was planning on writing a detailed review of DOOM’s new album Born Like This, while feeding you lines that could easily be picked apart once transcribed. Instead Mos Def did it for me. While these lines that he is spitting on this video are not off of his new album, they are exactly the kinds one finds upon listening to the new album, whether it’s the first time you throw it on or the 40th. A lot of debate goes on in these here internet boards about whether DOOM is the greatest thing since sliced bread, or the equivalent ...

Culturite — > > Mos kills it - paying true rap respect. Made me go listen to “Kookies” again. Sickness! neilhillbrandt: This just made my hangover a little better. skinnyghost: amazing.  DOOM is a ridiculously talented human being and to see another really talented rapper express such a boggled appreciation for him really proves that. hipstertracker: This is easily one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen on the internet. Thanks Jon! Meat Grinder is an insane track, ...

Hunter Stephenson’s Movie Review: Observe and Report (A Contender for Best Film of 2009)
/Film — Let me preface this by saying that I now anticipate Jody Hill’s films more than any other working filmmaker with the exception of Paul Thomas Anderson. And on a particularly excruciating Monday, maybe Tommy Wiseau’s. “You suck this gun like a dick and then this dick goin’ cum in your mouth and blow your muthafucking brains all over the street!” – Danny McBride in Observe and Report, um, protecting his legacy Generally speaking, there are two types of people, and as it lies, two types of moviegoers: ...

Mos Def: The Ecstatic (Review)
PopMatters — His acting roles aside, it’s been about two-and-a-half years since we last heard from the Mighty Mos Def, a.k.a. Pretty Flaco, Dante, the Boogie Man, and so on. In late 2006, he dropped the nearly fatally dull True Magic . A lackluster release with only a handful of tracks worth listening to, it had many of his loyal fans crying afoul. Rumors were then spread that the album was simply a means of getting out of his contract with Geffen. As a result, some fair-weather fans were able to let the whole debacle slide. Remember, these were many of the same listeners who either loved or chose to ignore the rap-blues-rock hybrid The New Danger . ...

Record Review / Mos Def :: The Ecstatic
Cokemachineglow.com — It’s been five years since Mos Def last had a guest rapper—Luda at the end of the 60% inspired, 40% unforgiveable horseshit The New Danger (2004). So when Slick Rick sidles in at the end of “Auditorium,” it’s not just his best cameo since “Da Art Of Storytelling,” it’s kind of a symbolic shift into yet another phase for Mos Def, centering the album after two fast but loose, True Magic -ally (2006) dubious opening cuts. The beat is pilfered Madlib from his India excursion, but just like Naveen Andrews on Lost , Mos and Rick transform Indian into Iraqi, with some DOOM-friendly abstract commentary on “Madlib-erators.” Ha. ...

Mos Def x DOOM
illRoots — Confusion over at Pigeons & Planes just made my evening. If these two are collaborating it won’t come as a surprise as Dante is already a fan of Doom, at least for now we can hope this happens. Bonus: Lee Wilson - Soul Kiss (Ft. Mos Def)

Mos Def Bets a Million Dollars On MF DOOM Against ‘Lil Wayne
Hip Hop Roll — Last March The Culture Capture Champs caught up with Mos Def in the studio to find out about his influences. The video that resulted is insanely entertaining especially if you’re a fan of MF DOOM. For 7 minutes Mos recites some of the best MF lyrics revealing just how tight they are. Regardless there’s no doubt that MF DOOM is one of Mos Def’s top rappers and biggest influences. He knows his ish inside out. He talks about when Madvillainy came out that he looked at the record and just KNEW that they got ...
