With Wall-E in theatres this weekend, it makes sense that trailers for the next round of CG kids’ movies are arriving at the same time. Dreamworks’ The Tale of Despereaux is based on the book by Kate DiCamillo, about a mouse who befriends a castle’s princess. I can’t say this trailer really does much for me, as it looks like a cross between Ratatouille and Bee Movie . Is it just me or are Dreamworks always playing catch up to Pixar? The voice cast includes Matthew Broderick, Emma Watson, Dustin Hoffman and Sigourney Weaver, and it is directed by Sam Fell ( Flushed Away ), Gary Ross ( Seabiscuit , Pleasantville ) and Robert Stevenhagen. We have another animated mouse movie that will be upon us just in time for the upcoming christmas season! We have discovered this trailer thanks to the WEBMASTER over at Film Junk. Check out The Tale of Despereaux! A mouse that knows not fear and lives life like nothing will harm him is an interesting idea for a children’s film. I am not familiar with the book that this movie is based on, but if any of you have had the privilege of reading it - I would appreciate your input very much.
