[image] Usher started off the 2008 BET Awards with a bang with one the most rousing renditions of “Love In This Club” I’ve seen him do. He had the choreography, sex appeal, pyrotechnics…just about everything except live singing. I’m actually willing to give him half a pass on not singing live since it was just nice to see some semblance of the old Usher. D.L. Hughley is hosting this year and actually managed to be funny and not totally offensive. So far though, I still prefer Monique or Steve Harvey to DL as host. BET Awards ‘08 Performances! Usher opened the BET Awards ‘08 off with a couple seconds of his latest single “Moving Mountains” then went right into his hit single “Love In This Club”. Honestly, the energy on the stage could have been better. I was really hoping for a Beyonce cameo for his “Love In The Club” remix, but I was disappointment. Chris Brown was super duper adorable as he sung to Rihanna’s hit “Take A Bow”. Ne-Yo performed “Closer” from his upcoming album Year Of The Gentleman . He was flying all over the place - the only thing missing was a cape. Alicia Keys bought girl power back love muffins! ...

Usher opened up the awards with his hit “Love In This Club”. As much as I love me some Usher, for an opener his set was kind of weak. I would’ve enjoyed it better if Ursh perfomed the remix to this joint…bringing out Jeezy, T.I. and maybe even Beyonce. Now that would’ve gotten the show started right! Keyshia Cole hit the stage to perform “Heaven Sent” and “Let It Go”. I’m a Keyshia fan but seriouly this chick needs a lesson or two on how to put on a show. Keyshia on wax is hot but Keyshia on live is an absolute flop. If it wasn’t for Lil’ Kim’s barbie looking ass, Keyshia’s set would’ve really sucked. Lil’ Kim saved it. ...
