I came real close to putting Barack Obama alongside Lupe’s name as one of the “featured” artists. If it took a Black president on the brink of being elected to get this song a renewed push, then so be it. I’ve been still been spinning the song ever since I first heard it. You might remember us profiling German singer Joy Denalane in 2006, when she dropped her album Born And Raised, which is still on of the best R&B albums out this decade. Her single, “Change,” which featured a then unknown Lupe Fiasco was one of the highlights of the album.
