Death of a Meme: The Media Loves Obama
Published 7/22/2008 by Jeff Bercovici at Portfolio.com: Mixed Media
You call this an attack ad? Showing remarkable desperation considering how much time remains until the election, John McCain's campaign has assembled a three-minute video of clips that ostensibly prove the political press is "in the tank," as the saying goes, for his opponent, Barack Obama. Watch:
McCain's campaign says it will let supporters vote on the best version of the ad and then air the winner on TV. But there are so, so many reasons not to do that, starting with this one: It makes McCain look pathetic. This is why we're supposed to vote for ...

John McCain Feels Jilted: Taking a page from the Daily Show (literally in some cases), John McCain's campaign camp has put together some videos spoofing the media's supposed infatuation with Barack Obama. For whatever reason Maeve Reston's story doesn't link to said videos -- but we did. Enjoy.

Bob Cesca: The Barbeque Media Wants Senator Obama To Win? That's Rich.
Published 7/24/2008 by Bob Cesca at Huffington Post Entertainment Blog

Oh, and the reverse doesn't apply. That's the rule.
And so now that Senator Obama's Berlin address is in the can, get ready for the backlash from the very serious corporate media. Get ready for profuse around-the-clock praise of Senator McCain ...

Published 7/24/2008 by Michael Weiss at Gawker
John McCain made a pair of not-bad ads mocking the schoolgirlish moments of pundits talking about Barack Obama. Sure, it was hypocritical since McCain's no stranger to favorable press — he famously joked that reporters constituted his "base." Also politically dangerous for the same reason. But if he gets away with tweaking the Fourth Estate it's because he offers the kind of access other pols don't. This is why Jonathan Chait and Jacob Weisberg may not vote for him but still kind of admire the guy. Obama, however, is the anointed presidential hopeful (if he doesn't say so himself), and he ...
McCain Considered Doomed Even Among Conservative Editorialists [Wtf]
Published 7/25/2008 by Ryan Tate at Gawker
Hey, if John McCain, 71, had any hope of becoming the oldest person ever to ascend to the presidency next January, you know what would be important? The identity of the person who would replace the miracle of modern medical technology upon death. But all news outlets everywhere know McCain cannot possibly win this thing, since voters hate Republican candidates right now and besides Barack Obama is a tender angel of love and hope and also Change. This is why even the rabidly conservative Wall Street Journal editorial page just ran an opinion piece (headline pictured above) arguing that ...
