McCain Campaign: Great Idea, Horrible Execution on Hillary Clinton Ad
Published 8/24/2008 by Scott Warheit (noreply@blogger.com) at Quo Vadimus
As I was watching MSNBC's coverage of the Barack Obama-Joe Biden unveiling yesterday (after I got home from the Lions 26-6 victory over Cleveland, thank God for DVRs) I got to thinking. While the McCain campaign's original ad in response to Obama picking Biden was utterly predictable (a clip of Biden attacking Obama at a debate for being inexperienced followed by Biden praising McCain) I thought that if the McCain campaign was really smart, they'd run an ad praising Hillary Clinton, and try to draw a wedge with Hillary voters and get them riled up that she wasn't on the ticket. After all, in the ...

Yesterday, the 2008 Democratic ticket appeared together for the first time in Springfield, Illinois. When Barack Obama introduced Joe Biden, he emphasized the Senator from Delware's roots, “He is still that scrappy kid from Scranton who beat the odds — the dedicated family man and committed Catholic who knows every conductor on that Amtrak train to Wilmington.” And when Biden made it to the stage, Bruce Springsteen's The Rising played.

The Biden Choice by Obama for VP and the Snubbing of Hillary Clinton … No Bounce with Biden VP Pick
Published 8/24/2008 by Scared Monkeys at Scared Monkeys
On the eve of the Democratic National Convention in Denver, Barack Obama and his campaign are faced with an intriguing dilemma. Obama has made his choice of Joe Biden as his VP and in the process upset and alienated many Hillary Clinton supporters. It appears that the choice of Biden was not a detriment to Obama; however, it looks like it was no help either. A recent Rasmussen poll stated 39% say Biden was the right choice, while women were less enthusiastic. However, with all the build up to the ObamaVP choice, the Biden announcement fell flat.

MCCAIN FIGHTS BACK!

John McCain has slammed Madonna for comparing him to Adolf Hitler and Robert Mugabe on her latest world tour.
In a just-released statement by campaign spokesman Tucker Bounds, the presidential hopeful says: “The comparisons are outrageous, unacceptable and crudely divisive all at the same time. It clearly shows that when it comes to supporting Barack Obama, his fellow worldwide celebrities refuse to consider any smear or attack off limits.”
Speaking of smeak tactics, have you check out ...
Dazed and confused

So here we are on the week of the Democratic National Convention and I've pretty much convinced myself to vote for the Democratic candidate for the first time since I voted for Clinton in the 90s in the first presidential election that I was eligible to vote. It feels kind of weird to be honest with you. Kind of like it must feel like to be an athlete who plays for the same team for a number of years and then suddenly suits up to play for an old rival. It's so, well, weird. ...
William Bradley: Distract And Detract: McCain Counter-Programs The DNC, And Himself
Published 8/26/2008 by William Bradley at Huffington Post Entertainment Blog
John McCain's press release TV ad playing up Joe Biden's criticism of Barack Obama and praise of McCain.
While the Democrats continue rolling out their convention and the Obama-Biden ticket, Team McCain is playing it tough, trying to disrupt Barack Obama's storyline at most turns of the media cycle. Free from the no doubt horrifying responsibility to run positive TV ads during the Olympics after it was brought to their attention that John McCain is the only one ever to have run negative ads, the campaign is back to its all-attack ways. ...
