Though it comes off kind of creepy considering Heather O' Rourke's no longer with us.

Stay Classy: DirecTV’s Poltergeist Commerical with Dead Heather O’Rourke
Published 10/3/2008 by slashfilm.com at /Film
Last night, I was listening to Tom Scharpling’s “The Best Show,” and the topic was haunted movies. Mid-conversation he brings up his disgust with the new ad for DirecTV featuring a living Craig T. Nelson and a nicely preserved ...

DirectTV uses Poltergeist clip in new commercial
Published 10/4/2008 at OH NO!!
I just saw this Direct TV commercial that uses a clip from Poltergeist. Craig T. Nelson and Heather O'Rourke (the little girl) are both in it. I just thought it was interesting that they would use this because Heather O'Rourke died while filming the third Poltergeist film and I was curious to see what everyone thinks of it. Is it in bad taste that they would use this clip or is it no big deal because most people have seen the film anyway? Discuss. ...

Does DirecTV’s New ‘Poltergeist’ Commercial Go Too Far?
Published 10/7/2008 by Larry Carroll at MTV Movies Blog
For several years now, I’ve enjoyed keeping an eye peeled for new ads from DirecTV; they’ve been playing off a nifty gimmick that brings stars back to their classic movie roles (Sigourney Weaver in “Aliens,” Robert Patrick in “Terminator 2,” Jessica Simpson in “Dukes of Hazard”…well, okay, maybe they’re not all classics) and has them taking a quick timeout to address us about the joys of satellite TV. Harmless enough, right? Well, the fun is over. The newest ad in the series targets “Poltergeist” and features a 2008 Craig T. Nelson conversing with Heather O’Rourke. And the ...

Discuss: Should DirecTV Use 'Poltergeist' Kid to Make Money?
Published 10/8/2008 by Monika Bartyzel at Cinematical
As we all know by now, the Poltergeist series brought eeriness both on and off the screen with the Poltergeist Curse. Real human skeletons were used, exorcisms were performed, props malfunctioned, fire blazed, and of course, people died -- the most infamous being the passing of the cute, tow-headed Heather O'Rourke. And now she's being used to sell DirecTV units. Classy. Craig T. Nelson is back to give the spiel, but the above commercial also uses her famous "They're here!" line and a little girl to pose as O'Rourke to walk to the foot of the bed (O'Rourke's ...

DirecTV Finally Goes Too Far
Published 10/8/2008 by Kirby (noreply@blogger.com) at Movie Dearest
We've complained about them in the past, but with this latest commercial featuring Poltergeist, DirecTV has certainly crossed the line. Didn't anybody -- MGM, Craig T. Nelson, Heather O'Rourke's family -- pause to think that this wouldn't be the best way to honor the memory of a little girl who tragically died at the age of 12? ...

Direct TV's 'Poltergeist' ad is dead wrong
Published 10/9/2008 by Kristen Baldwin at Entertainment Weekly's PopWatch
DirecTV's 'Poltergeist' ad is dead wrong Dear DirecTV, Thanks for destroying my soul a little bit with your recent ad spoofing Poltergeist , which features child star Heather O'Rourke ( who passed away in 1988 ). Just a thought: Next time, perhaps you should avoid using a dead child to hawk your product. Sincerely, Kristen Baldwin

The new “Poltergeist” ad for DirecTV will give you the creeps
Published 10/14/2008 by Will Harris at Premium Hollywood - Entertainment blog, Hollywood blog, movie blog, TV blog
Haaaaaaave you seen the new DirecTV ad that features Craig T. Nelson reprising his role as Steve Freeling in “Poltergeist”? I caught it last night, and…well, is it just me, or did it feel really creepy and exploitative to see the late Heather O’Rourke? I don’t think it was intended to feel that way (nor, apparently, does O’Rourke’s mother), but at the end of the ad, when Nelson says, “That’s going to come back to haunt me,” all I could think was, “Uh, yeah, and so is Heather…”

Fan Rant: DirecTV, You're Killing Me
Published 10/28/2008 by Scott Weinberg at Cinematical
First off I want it made clear: I'm not knocking the DirecTV service, which I have used in the past and had no problems with. No, what I'm talking about is the room full of marketing whiz-kids who got together and decided that wedging their sales pitches into well-known movies would be a good idea. I've seen the ads mostly during sporting events: There's the T2 one ...
